Tips for Getting Things Done:
Just Do It!
It seems like the list of great ideas on how to
make things happen grows and grows each year.
As Attractions, we all feel the same desire at
the start of each new season, whether it falls
in the Spring, Fall, Summer or Winter. Bring in
new visitors, room nights, dollars, you name it.
We are then presented with the struggle of how
to make it happen. There never seems to be enough
time, money, bodies, hours in the day. Every one
experiences the same roadblocks. What do we do?
It's easy to sit and say we can't. There is a
laundry list of reasons why. No one would fault
you. But wouldn't it be more exciting to just
do it. Find the ways around it. What is your obstacle?
We can't always make up for lack of budgets, or
lack of bodies, but if we can get it started in
some way, no matter how small, we've done our
part. Personally and professionally, I think everyone
has come to this point. How can you make it happen?
Utilize your resources. Network with everyone
you know. Reach back into your own experiences
and you find eventually that you are the key.
It's up to us to make it happen. Make a new contact,
toss out an idea, no matter how crazy, attend
a new event, whatever. Just Do It!
As always, we wouldn't be successful without the
success of you, our members!
See you in November at the Silent Auction! Mark
your calendars for Nov. 3!

ATTRACTION
THE BLACK
MADONNA SHRINE AND GROTTOS
Fall has arrived and it is the perfect time of year
to visit a local attraction where the scenic drive
through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains will
truly add to your experience. The Black Madonna
Shrine and Grottos is one of Eureka, Missouri’s
most impressive attractions, offering an array of
incredible mosaics and multi-colored rock sculptures
that all pay homage to Christian events, including
the birth and passion of Jesus Christ. The Shrine
is an inspiring example of what one man, Brother
Bronislaus Luszcz, can achieve through the love
of art, tradion, and faith.
The Shrine sits on the grounds of the Franciscan
Missionary Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The grottos at the Black Madonna Shrine are constructed
of native Missouri tiff rock, which came from Potosi,
a mining community 30 miles southwest of the site.
Materials used in ornamentation -- such as seashells
and costume jewelry -- were contributed by visitors
or sent from foreign missions. Brother Bronislaus,
who in 1927 emigrated from Poland to the St. Louis
area, built the grottos by hand, without the use
of power tools. The Black Madonna Shrine and Grottos
is located about eight miles outside Eureka and
is open free to the public on the following schedule:
May - September 9 a.m.- 7 p.m., April and October9
a.m.- 6 p.m. and November - March 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Guided Tours and Pilgrimages, Liturgical Services,
Group Tours and a Gift Shop are all available. To
find out more information, visit their website www.blackmadonnashrine.org
or call (636) 938-5151.
